Once arrived at the Hallein Salt Mine the mine train will take you deep into the mountain to the underground salt lake, where a multimedia show will introduce you to the fascinating mining world.

From here follow the historic traces of the Celts, who mined salt in Hallein already 400 BC. The tunnel labyrinths are several kilometres long and were made by hand by the miners in the past. Here various attractions and adventures await you.

Location & arrival

Conveniently get to Hallein by train from Salzburg main station, by express train or by post bus. From Hallein main station take the bus to Bad Dürrnberg Salzbergwerk. From here it is only a 2-minute walk to the Hallein Salt Mine. If you take your own car it will only take you about 25 minutes via the motorways A1 and A10 – find free parking spaces at the mine's entrance.
