Nothing has made Salzburg so famous in the United States of America and in the Far East than the Hollywood film "Sound of Music”. The original "Sound of Music” tour takes you to places where the story around the Trapp family was shot and will also lead you to Salzburg's landmarks and to the Salzkammergut.

Sound of Music tour through Salzburg

The tour starts at Mirabell gardens where Maria von Trapp and the children danced around the Pegasus monument and sang the song "Do re mi”. The next stop is in front of Leopoldskron Palace, which was adapted as the Trapp family's home. To the delight of all those who still after 35 years love to visit the original locations of this classic film, the glass gazebo in Hellbrunn Palace's garden was reconstructed. 

Past the Nonnberg Monastery's abbey, where the baron and Maria married in 1927 you will drive to Lake Fuschlsee. All the landscape shots that you can see at the beginning of the film were shot here and in St. Gilgen am Wolfgangsee in the Salzkammergut. The gorgeous church in Mondsee served as the scenery for the wedding scenes. 

During the tour you will listen to the famous "Sound of Music” soundtrack. And there is also a small surprise present for you. You will get your own impression about how the film that made Salzburg famous was made. 

Jubilee: 50 years of Sound of Music

In 2015 the most successful musical in history will celebrate its 50th anniversary. For this occasion you will be able to see the special exhibition "Der Schein, das Sein und das Dritte Reich” in the former Trapp mansion in Salzburg Aigen.
